We number six if everyone is present but more often than not it is usually five of us so please join us - we would love to welcome you. Please contact Margaret on 0114 255 7538. |

S8 Schools Prayer Group |
Anyone interested in the welfare of our local schools, pupils and staff is invited to come and pray with us. We usually meet once each term. Contact Liz Whitwam on 0114 281 1803 for more details. |

First Wednesday |
First Wednesday meets on the first Wednesday in the month at 7.30pm at the home of Jacqui Herbert or Hazel Basford. We start with a drink and a chat which leads into prayer. This is followed by a theme, eg. specific people in the Bible, everyday topics with pointers from the Bible. Each month is different; we don't follow a "syllabus". Members can ask for a subject and we will research it. This group was started as an offshoot of Mothers' Union for those who worked during the day, but there is no fee and no membership needed. Just come along when you can and enjoy fellowship. We have a lot of fun and in the past it has been a nurture group. You don't need to be a theologian - we learn together. (It is an all ladies' group.) Jacqui Herbert 0114 255 4379 2 Carfield Place S8 9JA |

| Wednesday Evening Homegroup |
There are 10 of us (4 men and 6 ladies) who meet twice a month, on the second and fourth Wednesday :- Second week - we meet at 7pm and share a meal together and then have time to chat and catch up with each other's news. Fourth week - at 7.30pm we do something more serious such as Bible study or discuss a topical issue. We take it in turn to host the evening so our venue changes each time. It would be lovely to welcome some new faces and if you think you'd like to join us please ring Liz Warren on 0114 255 7965 or Karen Kilner on 0114 250 7369 and we can let you know where we'll be. |

Women's Institute |
The Women's Institute was formed in 1915 to support rural communities and encourage women to become more involved in producing food during the First World War. Now with 215,000 members in over 7000 WIs it is the largest national women's organisation in the UK, recently celebrating its 90 th Anniversary. The aims of the WI are to offer women skills and opportunities of their choice together with friendship and companionship. The Norton Lees' Institute of the WI meets at St Paul's Centre on the first Wednesday of each month at 7.30pm. Quite often there is a speaker, always lots of fun and of course a cup of tea. We have outings of interest or educational value. We are involved in supporting local charities and appeals using the skills and craftwork of the members. Visitors are welcome at a meeting to find out more about our Institute. For more information please contact: Secretary Beryl Hobson 0114 258 5384 President Sylvia Sanderson 0114 258 2194 |

St Paul's Music Listening Group |
St Paul's Music Listening Group meets twice a month, currently on a Thursday night to listen to mainly classical music. Over the fifteen or so years that we have been meeting our membership has risen to about 20 and we have covered the music of most of the main composers, but have quite often heard music by composers that are not so well known. Recently we have had complete evenings of music by Beethoven, Mozart (on his 250 th birthday), and Handel and his mates! Sometimes though we have evenings of popular music (well popular in the 30's to the 60's!) and occasionally jazz. Those who wish volunteer to plan the programmes which gives a different approach for each session. We have - as they say in football talk - an evening of two halves, separated by an interval for tea + coffee, cake or biscuits and a chance to have a chat with our friends. We try to make sure that all who need it get a lift to and from the meetings. If you want a relaxing informal evening away from the phone and the T.V. why not give us a try? We don't mind if you have a snooze - most of us do from time to time! If you are interested please contact Joan or John Howlett 0114 255 4581. |
