Prayer for the week
Lord God give me opportunities to
share your love with others this week
and the courage and confidence
to take the opportunities you provide!

Having thought in recent weeks about our contacts with people and our need to be demonstrating God’s love in action, what happens when someone asks you about our faith?

Jesus calls us all to be able to share with others the faith we have found.  Think about how you might simply and clearly tell someone what God has come to mean to you.  What sort of things would you want to say and how would you put it in words that someone you know would easily understand?

From Murray’s Diary
Spring has sprung!  After such a long cold winter it is fantastic to feel and see the coming of spring.  Take some time to go out and breath in the warmer air and see the world coming back to life.  (You could admire the crocuses planted by Cubs and Beavers in the church garden by the main road!).

Prepare yourself to go the last mile with Jesus, sharing with him the suffering and death that leads to a rebirth more powerful and profound than any spring!

I am coming to the end of my sessions at the ME clinic now and have the last main session this week.  I have learned a great deal from the sessions, but think that I do know enough now to manage things myself.  I will miss the sessions, but my Doctor is providing me some follow up therapy which should begin quite soon and I am hoping this will also be useful.

URGENT REMINDER! - GOOD FRIDAY A couple of people have offered their help but Ann really needs to know today please whether we have enough volunteers to go ahead with a Good Friday event for families?  If you’d like to help with planning and organising or just with preparing the craft, cutting out etc. please see Ann after today’s service. Thank you.

HAITI DISASTER Well done Carol, Margaret and friends who raised £250+ at their sale last week – despite the snow!

SAINSBURY'S ACTIVE KIDS Please collect tokens for the Scouts, Cubs and Beavers and put them in the box in church.  (We can't use Tesco ones) Many thanks.

REMINDER : SPRING CLEANING FOR EASTER  Our church cleaners are doing a great job in the time they have, but there is still a need for us to tackle some areas of church that get overlooked such as cleaning of the kitchen cupboards etc. We are hoping for a really good turnout on our next Working Party day, which is Sat 20th March from 10am – 12 noon. Your help will be greatly appreciated - please see Ken if you can come. Thankyou

A CHARITY TRIM! On the 6th March, 15 brave students will delve into the unknown world of ridiculous haircuts to fundraise for some amazing charities. The lads, all currently studying at Nottingham Trent University, are hoping to raise huge amounts for their respective charities, including the Oxfam Haiti Appeal and Save the Children. Barbara has a sponsor form for William Lee and there’s another at the back of church if you feel you would like to support the event. Please check out our Facebook Group “A.C.T (A Charity Trim) Notts 2010”.

"IMPROVING OUR WELCOME" - SAFETY TRAINING The next event will be at 7.30 pm on Wednesday 24th March in the MP to discuss any concerns that you may have regarding your group's use of the building. (Mainly fire procedures, using the lift, emergency contacts, lighting etc.) It is primarily aimed at group leaders to ensure they and their members feel confident and safe, and that we are fulfilling our obligations to the congregation and users of the facilities at St Paul’s.
It is also useful for getting a feel of how some of the ‘new’ things work. There are explanatory notices in each area, but if you would like to know more about extending the heating if your meeting runs over, or changing the lighting for different purposes, you might also find the meeting helpful.  Please see Murray if you can come. (tel. 2551945)

Prayer during Lent 2010
Lets all see if we can ‘give up’ an extra bit of time each day for prayer during Lent this year.

A prayer to say as we continue our journey with Jesus:

Thank you Lord for the
community in which I live.
May your transforming light
shine through me to bring
wholeness and peace to all
who need your help.

This week we think about our community.  Ask God to show you the places where people get together, that you are aware of, perhaps around schools, shops, places of work or parks.  Again, jot down your thoughts.

These reflections are based on the Lent series which Karen Kilner is leading. Do please pass on your thoughts to Karen who is keeping a record of the ideas which have come up from our discussions – and if possible come along the next session on 9th March.
