St Paul’s Church and Centre aims to promote:

  • the education, welfare and wellbeing of residents
  • the development of cultural, artistic, musical, creative, social and sporting activities
  • and the advancement of the Christian Faith

Our facilities may be hired by any organisation which accepts the general principles by which the Church and Centre operates. These are based on a commitment to:

  • Equal Opportunities
  • Racial Equality
  • Non violence
  • No abusive behaviour
  • Respect and tolerance for all
  • St Paul’s Church and Centre has final discretion over which organisations may use the facilities. We reserve the right to refuse any group, but normally, at least one month’s notice will be given. When the purpose for which the room is being hired is unclear, groups may be required to state their aims and objectives.
  • The hirer will be responsible for supervision of the premises, the fabric and contents, and the behaviour of all people using the premises during their period of hire.
  • Hirers are expected to leave the rooms in a clean and tidy condition. For social events, parties etc. an additional charge will be made for cleaning (– see 8 below.) All rubbish from their own group must be removed from the premises by the hirers. Please do not leave any food unless by prior arrangement. Bins are located outside the Old Vestry doors. Please recycle where possible.
  • St Paul’s Church and Centre is used by a wide variety of organisations, many of whom conduct their business meetings here. Groups for children and those involved with craft activities are asked to ensure tables are protected from paint, glue & food. Tables and chairs must be left clean and stacked carefully in their storage area. N.B. To prevent damage to the fabric of the building please do not remove furniture from the Upper Hall.
  • Hirers will vacate the room(s) used punctually at the end of the agreed session and are asked to book sufficient time for clearing away. Please ensure that you leave the premises within 15 minutes of stated departure time particularly since parking spaces are limited. All evening bookings for parties etc. are taken on the understanding that all music is switched of by 11.00 pm and allowing 1 hour for clearing away, the building is vacated by midnight.
  • The building should be properly locked and secured, and all lights switched off. Please ensure you check lights in all toilets, and the water heater & air conditioning in the Upper Hall if used. Instructions for the lighting alternatives can be found by each panel of switches. If the two central lights in the Nave remain on, you will know that a light has been left on somewhere in the building.
  • Keys on loan should be returned as agreed, either to the office or to Revd. Murray Brown at 6, Angerford Avenue. We will ask the hirer or the group leader to provide a signature accepting responsibility for safe keeping of the building and their key. A £10 charge will be made in the event of our having to replace lost keys.
  • Social functions, birthday parties etc. will be subject to a sessional charge (3 hours minimum) and a minimum cleaning charge of £12, which will be refunded if the room(s) hired is (are) clean and all rubbish removed and left over food taken away. We only have one black bin which is collected weekly, so if all your rubbish doesn’t fit in, please take it home with you if you can.
  • The price you are quoted includes one out of office hours viewing of the room if needed. There will be an additional charge of £5 for extra out of hours viewings. (Please note that the Church and Centre is normally open for viewing by arrangement, between the hours of 9.30 am and 2.00 pm from Monday to Thursday.)
  • Equipment belonging to St Paul’s Church and Centre may only be used with prior permission. (Prices on application.) Any equipment must be returned to its designated storage area at the end of the hire session. Breakages and damage to property belonging to St Paul’s will be charged for.
  • A representative from each group must keep an Attendance Register/Sheet. It is particularly important that we have a record of people using the kitchen.
  • If preparing, serving or selling food, the hirer must observe all relevant food health and hygiene legislation and regulations.
  • The hirer must ensure that any activities for children comply with the provisions of The Children Act 1989 and that where necessary CRB checks have been made.
  • Our Upper Hall is used by six groups for children & young people. We have limited storage so please make every effort to keep the store cupboard tidy and ensure all foodstuffs in the small kitchen are labelled and put away in the cupboards. We can not accept responsibility if your drinks get used!
  • The person hiring each room is responsible for the safety of all members of the group at all times during their use of St Paul’s Church & Centre.  Groups & other users are required to have their own Public Liability Insurance and to give a copy of the relevant policy to the Centre Manager or The Vicar before commencing use of the premises. The hirer must record all accidents involving injury to the public in the accident book and report them to the Centre Manager or The Vicar.
  • Hirers are required to read and observe the Fire Evacuation Procedures on display in each room used. May we remind you again that a representative from each group must keep an Attendance Register/Sheet. In the event of a fire, the building should be evacuated in an orderly manner using the exit indicated on the Fire Evacuation Procedures on display in each room. (Please note the Old Vestry does not have an exit for disabled people.) The Fire Brigade should then be called by dialling 999.

N.B. The lift must not be used if you suspect there may be a fire.

  • In the interests of public safety, the hirer must ensure that any electrical appliances brought to the premises and used there are safe and in good working order. They must have a valid PAT test sticker, and be used in a safe manner.
  • St Paul’s Church and Centre does not accept responsibility for the theft of valuables, loss of personal property of users of the premises or damage to parked vehicles. Please telephone 2550144 for lost property enquiries.
  • The premises are strictly tobacco and drug free.
  • St Paul’s Church and Centre is generally happy to advertise your event where appropriate but please check with the Vicar or the Centre Manager before putting up posters etc. (Please use the notice boards provided – no Blu -Tack or Sellotape on the walls please)
  • The Hirer should ensure that they have parked responsibly and courteously with regard to the church and vicarage’s neighbours, and that they do not block the cul-de-sac to emergency vehicles by parking on the double yellow lines. They should also ensure that the minimum of noise is made on arrival and during departure. We are happy to recommend suitable places to park and particularly encourage car-sharing where possible for larger events.
  • Payment in full is required for one-off social events and parties at least two weeks beforehand.
  • Cancellations made at less than 48 hours notice will be charged at the full rate.
  • St Paul’s Church and Centre reserves the right to refuse a request for the use of rooms and in extenuating circumstances (such as weddings and funeral services,) to offer an alternative room of similar size and cost. Any alteration will be notified to hirers before the use of rooms commences.
  • Any queries or complaints should be made in the first instance to The Vicar or the Church and Centre office. Alternatively, if you feel the matter has not been resolved to your satisfaction, please write to Mr John Brown, Chairman of St Paul’s Centre Management Group c/o St Paul’s Church and Centre, Norton Lees Lane, Sheffield S8 9BD
  • This sheet must be signed by the Hirer and returned to the Centre Manager at the time of booking. A copy will be provided so that the hirer can ensure that all members of their group are made aware of these terms and conditions.
